What Is It?

The Dräger ignition interlock is a breath test device linked to the vehicle's ignition system. The interlock is designed to prevent a vehicle from starting if the driver’s blood alcohol content (BAC) exceeds zero.

Drivers must provide a breath sample that the interlock will analyse for the presence of alcohol before the vehicle will start. As alcohol takes time to be absorbed into a person’s bloodstream the interlock also requires additional breath tests at random intervals during the journey.
